The free program entitled, “Writing Your Legacy,” will take place from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 19 at the Celina/Mercer County Public Library, 303 N. Main St.’ “We all know what a treasure a family possesses when they have even on piece of family history, but while many of us have intended to write something for posterity, few of us have actually don so,: said program chairwoman Eileen Whitsett. “Your life is your legacy. One of the best gifts you can give your children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren is the gift of your life story. It will provide context for their lives and be a source of joy and practical information,” Whitsett said. Members of the club will offer topical examples and practical advice. The workshop is intended to inspire, motivate and actually start its participants in putting together information that is bound to become a family treasure. Each attendee will receive a folder packed with information, suggestions and resources helpful for writing a personal history. There is no cost to attend and refreshments will be served. In 1983 Esther Jetter of Ft. Recovery the daughter of a minister, wanted to get her fathers’ work published so she started a writer’s group in hopes that it might help her and others achieve their writing goals. Over the years the group has compiled a People in Print that features writers from Auglaize and Mercer Counties and sponsored writing contest for area young people. The Stateline Writers Club meets at 10 a.m. on the third Saturday of every month at the Celina Library, except for December and February. Dues are $8 per year.
