Unleashing your business for Explosive Growth

Auglaize Chambers offer Business Growth Seminar

Businesses of all shapes and sizes will benefit from a seminar being offered in St. Marys on April 2.  "Unleashing Your Business for Explosive Growth - The four real-world steps to bring business through your door and make your phone ring" will be presented by Kordell Norton, nationally-known business growth expert and Certified Graphic Facilitator.  The event will be held from 10 am - 2 pm at the St. Marys Eagles Lodge, 404 E. Spring Street.  The cost is $25 per person, including lunch.

"The three Chambers of Commerce in Auglaize County are bringing Kordell to our area to provide some practical information in an interactive program that will help our local businesses survive and prosper in the present economic climate," said Jim Coons, Executive Director of the Southwestern Auglaize County Chamber.  "Having seen Kordell speak to the statewide Chamber Executives organization, I know firsthand that he is effective and on target with his message."

Norton is a former executive in the fields of sales, marketing and human resources, and has spoken to dozens of major corporations, universities, and nationwide organizations.  His entertaining and fast-paced presentation is both humorous and thought-provoking.  The tools he presents can be used right away to take control and grow any kind of business, even in a down economy.

Norton is the author of two books: "Throwing Gas on the Fire - creating drastic change in sales and marketing" and "Spontaneous Combustion - discovering the customer's problems, passions and priorities."  He is president of Synergy Solutions LLC in Twinsburg, Ohio, and a member of the National Speakers Association.

Registrations for the seminar are being accepted at the St. Marys Area Chamber of Commerce (419-300-4611), the Wapakoneta Area Chamber of Commerce (419-738-2911) and at the Southwestern Auglaize Chamber (419) 629-0313

St. Marys Beautification

The St. Marys Beautification Committee is pleased to announce a joint venture with Memorial High School.  The Beautification Committee along with the students at Memorial High School will participate in a St. Marys community wide volunteerism day on April 30, 2009.  The event, "Pay It Forward", will teach the youth at Memorial High School what it takes to work hard while helping others.
How can this event be a success?  The answer is you.  We need projects for the 500 to 600 students that will participate in the one day event.  The number of projects we receive will determine the number of students in a group.  At this point, the goal is to keep the students in a group of 10, along with a chaperone.  If a project demands more or less, we will accommodate that.  "Pay It Forward" will begin at 8:30 a.m. and run until 1:00 p.m.  This is 4 1/2 hours of free labor to get whatever project you need done, done.  Whether the project is at your home, or business, let the students learn community service by completing the project for you.
What kind of projects are we talking about?  Here are a few ideas for you to think about:

*Clean up of a storage room, an office, an attic, a garage, or a spare office

*Washing windows, inside and out

*Painting that needs to be done inside or outside, such as a garage, or office

*Planting flowers outside your business

*Weeding an old flowerbed

*Cleaning or varnishing a deck, or patio furniture

*Washing cars, cleaning out cars, or, cleaning car  parts for a mechanic

*Washing floors and walls

*Organize files

*Doing an activity with a Senior Citizen

The list is endless.  Every business has its own set-up.  Only you know what project needs to be completed, if only you had more time.  Instead of waiting to do the project yourself, which might sit for another two or three years, let us help you finish the project in 2009.  The youth of this community are the core of our future.  With your help, we can teach the students respect, honesty, and unity.  These three things alone can leave a lasting impression on a student.
If you are interested in participating with the "Pay It Forward" project, please contact the Chamber Office at 419-300-4611 or e-mail Kelly Kill at kelly@stmarysohio.org. The deadline for the request is April 10, 2009.  There needs to be ample time to combine the project list with the student list.  If you have a specific request, such as a shop student, or an Art student, don't hesitate to ask.  This event is to teach the students, and if your business can do that, it will be an added value.
Thank you for your time.  We do hope to hear from you soon.
Sincerely,
The Beautification Committee and the Memorial High School Guidance Counselors

STATE OF THE SCHOOLS

Luncheon, Thursday, April 30, 11:30 -1 PM

The luncheon will feature presentations by Mayor Rodney Metz, Superintendent Keith Horner and Doug Spencer, Auglaize County Commissioner.  Officials will give updates on current issues they are facing and their plans for the future.  A presentation will be made by each speaker followed by a general question and answer session.  This event will provide our Chamber members with an excellent opportunity to hear from these officials to gain a greater understanding of the plans they have for our community.

The event will be held at the Wapakoneta VFW.  Lunch will be provided at a nominal charge to be collected at the door. Please call the Chamber office with your estimated number of attendees to help us plan for the meal.  RSVP to Chamber office 419-738-2911 or chamber@wapakoneta.com
