June 1 COLDWATER K OF C PICNIC The annual K of C Picnic will be held on the Holy Trinity Parish grounds May 31st –June 1st. There will be great food, games, and fun family entertainment. Celina Summer Challenge Radio Control Hydroplane Boat Racing- May 31 & June 1, 200 Over 80 hydroplane teams are expected to race 150 boats in 20 classes, on the Eastview Park Pond, at speeds up to 100 miles per hour. Action begins a 8:00 A.M. both days. Heat racing will continue to 5:30 P.M on Saturday and 2:00 P.M on Sunday. The race course is located east of Celina on St. Rt. 29 next to the Walmart complex. This is the 17th year for this to be held in Celina. This event is sanctioned by the International Model Power Boat Association and will attract teams from across the United States and Canada. Bluegrass Concert at Covered Bridge Farmers’ Market Bluegrass Concert at Covered Bridge Farmers’ Market Bluegrass musicians Kitty and Vernon McIntyre will be giving a free concert from 9:00 a.m. until noon on Saturday, June 14 at the Covered Bridge Farmers’ Market in St. Marys. The McIntyres are noted for being excellent musicians, while always maintaining a friendly and welcoming atmosphere during their concerts. They give many shows throughout the year, and are the owners of the Famous Old Time Music Co., based in Wapakoneta, with another store in Cincinnati. Their web site is www.fotmc.com. Visitors to the Covered Bridge Farmers’ Market can enjoy the live music while they shop, and those who want to stay awhile are welcome to bring lawn chairs to set up on the bridge. The concert is free to everyone, and was made possible by the Eagles Lodge #767, the St. Marys Community Foundation, and Arts Place. The Covered Bridge Farmers’ Market also has delicious baked goods, preserves, free-range eggs, plants for the garden, crafts, artwork, cards, home-made dog biscuits, and much more. Home-grown produce such as asparagus, lettuce, sweet corn and tomatoes are available as the season allows. The market is held every Saturday morning from 8:00 a.m. to noon throughout the summer. Anyone interested in selling their extra produce or home-made items is invited to contact the St. Marys Chamber of Commerce at 419-300-4611 for further information. Space rental costs are very reasonable, and vendor applications will be available at the Chamber and at Canalside Book Shop throughout the summer.
