01 Sep Enjoy a Little Piece of Our Germany at the Minster Oktoberfest!!

The 2022 Minster Oktoberfest Parade theme is Unser Stück Deutschland or “Our Piece of Germany”. That is so very appropriate!

Many of the early settlers in the Greater Grand Lake Region immigrated here and brought their own little “piece of Germany” to the area. You can see their influence in the tidy homes and well-kept farms across the region. These ancestors not only endowed the area with a strong work ethic and love for family…but also a zest for life, German food and beer.

Each year the small community of Minster, Ohio celebrates the area’s rich German heritage during Oktoberfest. Upwards of 50,000 people visit this village of nearly 3,000 to enjoy the fun, the food and the music. The people of Minster feel that the Oktoberfest is not just an event; it’s a feeling, a spirit, a happy mood that conveys the warmth and friendliness of the community.

This gala, fun filled festival provides delights for all. You can sing and dance to German music. Taste the hearty German foods. Watch the spectacular parade featuring colorful floats and marching bands. See the many events in the Gazebo and the Spazz Plaz. Take part in the beer tray relay, the 10K run and numerous other games.

I did mention food…right?

You will find ALL the usual festival foods at the Minster Oktoberfest; corndogs, funnel cakes, elephant ears and sugar waffles, just to name a few. But more importantly, you will also find delicious German foods served in homes around the area for generations that cannot be found at any other local festivals or events.

The 2022 Oktoberfest menu includes: Cabbage Rolls, Sauerkraut Balls, Hot German Potato Salad, Pumpernickel Rolls, Metts, Rueben Sandwiches, Schmidt’s Sausage Haus, Brats, Sausage & Sauerkraut Sandwiches. For dessert, enjoy Cream Puffs, Apple Strudel and German Chocolate Cake.
