The center (a restored Shell gas station) was opened in May of 1998. It is located at 106 E. Butler Street in downtown Ft. Recovery. The center is located between the Fort-Museum area and Monument Park. The center has local items on display and information about the many sites and attractions in the area.
The center is a combined effort of the Ft. Recovery Historical Society and Project Recovery, a local non-profit revitalization group. The funding for the center came from local donations and through the financial support of these two groups.
